Jewellery Care Guide

The Ultimate Jewellery Care Guide Dos and Don’ts!

Your masterpiece is a sentimental piece of jewellery and an investment. Like all property, it needs to be cared for and protected in the best possible way.
Utmost care should always be a top priority to ensure your sparkler shines at its best for many years to come!
Here is our recommendations for all Big Diamond masterpieces.

Keeping Your Dazzling Diamonds Sparkling

The secret to a diamond’s scintillation lies in the facets which are like millions of tiny mirrors which reflect the light in and out of the stone. Regularly cleaning the facets of your diamond will ensure the brilliance sparkles at its best! Diamonds are natural magnets for grease, especially the natural oils from your fingers! They will require a regular clean to keep them shining.
Cleaning your beloved diamonds is easy.
Try to avoid touching your centre stone when putting on or taking off your ring. Hold the band on either side rather than grabbing your centre stone.
Keeping your rings clean by washing them with warm water, a good old-fashioned soft bristle toothbrush, and gentle dishwashing liquid is the most popular and easiest way. Be sure to avoid harsh scrubbing of course! Once you have finished and rinsed, simply pat dry your jewellery with a soft, lint-free cloth and your diamond ring should appear dazzling and sparkly again! Many people make this a part of their weekly routine.
There are also many different professional jewellery cleaner solutions in which you can purchase in many different forms.
Do not use any type of harsh household chemicals on your precious rings such as bleach.
Store your precious items in our provided luxury boxes and pouches. They have been designed to keep the dust out!

Take Out Insurance

Upon purchasing your precious item, we recommend taking out an insurance policy. Insurance is most certainly the best way to protect your investment. In the event of a theft or if you lose your item, you would want to ensure that you are covered to the current value. Compare the market as you would with car insurance until you find the most suitable deal for you! There are specialised jewellery insurers and many leading companies may add your item to your existing home and contents policies.

Remove Your Jewellery Before Any Sport or Activities

Make sure you remove your fine jewellery and safely store it before all hand-heavy activities. This includes things such as training at the gym and carrying weights, gardening, dishes, moving heavy furniture and any other activities that could damage your precious jewellery.
There is no such thing as an indestructible ring. Hard work, heat and everyday life can cause your ring to warm up as you wear it. Heat and pressure can make the metal of your ring more malleable and cause it to lose its perfectly round shape, or worse, precious stones may fall out! Please take extra care of your masterpiece!

Avoid Removing Your Jewellery Outside of Your Home

Try not to take off your jewellery for any reason outside of your home! This includes washing your hands as you may forget your ring on the ledge of the sink or, worse, drop it down the drain!
